Blog #1: My Workplace: Tuesday Oct 11th
1.My workplace is called World Savvy. My facility helps children k-12 get a better education while installing leadership skills. This means going to different schools to tell people what were about as well as giving teachers information or curriculum's to help teach there children about new things.
2.I am not sure what the size of it is. I do know that we are also located in New York. The office that i work at is small.
3.My workplace is located in San Francisco on Valencia st. It is kind of in the middle of the block. The building we are in is pretty big, but are room is small. there are only about 3 rooms and no doors to separate them all. There are two medium sizes rooms and one big one that looks like a living room.
4. A total of 6 people work there. today though when I went I only saw 5 people that work there, the other one was on a vacation. There is also another intern there that is going to be helping me out. So, there are 6 people that officially work there and 2 interns, me included.
5.My workplace employees regular people that want to work at a non-profit organization. More specific people who want to help children out with having a better future.
6.Honestly I do not know because I did not ask anyone. I do now that 3 of the people working there did attend a four year college. i do think though that everyone there attended some type of college. I will find out that information next time I go to my internship.
7.My workplace serves children of all levels as well as teachers or child educators.
8.The strength of my workplace is that everyone is easy to talk and relate to. the location is also pretty cool, in San Francisco. There are a lot of things to do and a lot of different ways to get your business information out into the world to get more publicity.
9.The one weakness of the workplace is that it is in the back of the building and if your new to the place its kind of hard to get use to where it is. there are also other rooms around it and it may be hard to distinguish it from the rest of them.
Blog #2: My Mentor: Tuesday Oct 18th
1.My mentor's name is Sarah.
2.The day consists of getting to work at about 10:00a.m. Getting on the computer and doing media things that help the establishment become a better known place.
3.How did they become interested in this field and what skills/education background did they need?
Blog #3: My Role: Tuesday Oct 25th
1.I am a librarian. My main responsibility is to make sure all the books are in order, see what books are missing, and label any new books that do not have stickers on them. i also have to make resource sheets that are easy to understand, for people to find books they need that relate to whatever topic I see best fit.
2.I am not doing any other work their besides the jobs stated above.
3.A regular day would be to come in between 9:45 and 10:00 in the morning. Call my adviser and pick up on the work I did not finish from last week. When I am done with that I go ask my mentor what I have to do next. Based on what is needed to be done in the library I go and do that. At around 12:00 in the afternoon I go out and get my lunch and eat in the conference room with the people who work at my internship. Once I am done eating I separate my food into different bins, compost, trash or recycling. Then back to my desk or to finish whatever task was given to me at the time. Once I am done or near finished I start packing up and getting ready to go. I ask my mentor to sign my folder and head home.
Blog #4: Project Proposal: Tuesday Nov.1st
1.I plan on making resource pages for the Library at my WLE. More specifically the resource sheets that I am making are of the topics that I feel students study most in class. I am making a resource sheet for students, teachers, and a video one, because they have movies there.
2.I cam up with this project because my mentor helped me figure it out. At my internship I handle the library. My mentor thought it would be a good idea to make resource pages to help people find what they need in an easier way. I was able to choose the topics that I was going to make the resource sheet out of.
3.I am excited to do this project in the next 3-4 weeks because when I finish doing the resound sheets, I will make a poster to put up in other schools. After that the library will be open to the public every week that I am there. Student's and teachers will be able to come in and check out stuff.
4.In the next 3-4 weeks I plan on finishing my last resource sheet and staring on my poster. I also have to send the poster to the school sin the area. I also have to find places near my internship that I can put the posters up so that everyone can see what it going on.

Blog #5: Progress on my WLE project, part 1: Tuesday Nov. 8
1.Today at my WLE I finished my resource sheet. I also was able to start and finish my flier that I will be putting up throughout the city, so that people can come to my open library. I was also able to start and finish my blog because I had a little free time to do it.
2. My mentor and I talked about how far I got on my project and what the next step will be. We also talked about when we are going to walk around to post fliers up. Today we also somewhat talked about the safety procedures in case their is an earthquake.
3.So far with my project I was able to finish all my resource sheets and finish my fliers. I was also able to make a list of all the schools in the neighborhood that would benefit from my library. My next step would be to put up my fliers and figure out exactly how I am going to collect data and incorporate it in my project.

Blog #6: Leadership Skills: Tuesday Nov 15th
1.The leadership skill that I am using the most are actually all of them except for communicate powerfully. I am thinking critically when I made the resource sheets because I have to find the right books that really help my topic out. I complete projects effectively because I do not get up from my desk until I finish doing what ever it is that I have to do. Before I leave for the day I make a mental note about what I have to get done the next time I go to my internship and what I have gotten done for that day.
2.I am using these leadership skill well at my WLE. One leadership skill I do struggle a little in is communicating powerfully. with this skill I do not really say a lot all the time to the people I work with and I wait until I am really stuck to ask a question. This causes issues because it causes me to occasionally waist time that I do not really have to waist. I could work on this skill by asking more questions right away and having small talk with everyone in my workplace so that I am okay with asking questions later on.
3.This question is answered in number 1.
4.My mentor manages thinks critically when it comes to figuring out what books the categories go in. She completes projects effectively because when she has something to do, she does it to her fullest ability. She also communicates powerfully because she has to talk to people so they understand what she is doing and how her work contributes to the organization.
Blog #7: What I learned, Reflection: Tuesday Nov 22nd
1.I have learned that I can fully finish a project and overcome any challenges that I had. I have also learned that people are willing to listen if you talk to them in a nice way. I like also like walking around and talking to people and fully finishing my projects. I like doing all this because it gives me a sense of accomplishments and meeting new people.
2.The challenge that I had was not asking questions when needed to. I overcame this challenge by having little conversations with the people at my internship and making jokes to break the ice. This made it easier to ask questions because I was no longer embarrased or shy.
3.My passion I have learned is talking to new people and helping them out. This has turned out to be my passion because it makes me feel good to talk to new people and learn about how I can help them or how my project has helped them. I life lesson that I learned is that you can help everyone who is willing to get it and when you do they are very appreciative of it.
4.My creativity in writing was put to good use because I was able to make topics and books sound interesting for people to want to look at. I was also able to make a flier that interested a lot of people.
5.My WLE placement affected me because it taught me how I could help people. It also taught me how non-profits work around their community to help people. It has taught me to be more mindful of things I am normally not aware of, like what a librarian does or how teaches teach based on the standards.
6.Now that I have been in a non-profit organization I learned that research and advertisement are a big deal. Before I only thought that people just give money, but it turns out that you have to do research on the people you are asking to give your organization money to see how you are going to approach them. I have also learned that when in a non-profit you have to be nice but firm so that people understand that you are trying to help other people out.
7.Writing is one skill that I learned is very important. More specifically persuasive writing because the makes people interested to want to come in and look at your organization. It also helps so that people will not be bored when reading anything.
8.I would say what I did at my WLE is very important because my internship has a lot of great books that everyone needs to see. My internship has books that are related to real world issues that students today need to learn about so they can help change the world.
9.What I have learned at my WLE has affected me because when I go to the library I will be mindful of putting the books back were they belong. I will do this because it is a very tedious job that takes a long time to do. I will also not take for granted what the librarian does when helping us find books. what I have come to learn is that it takes a while to memorize where all the books are and when kids keep changing their minds it makes finding a book much more difficult.

_Blog #8: Professionalism: Tuesday Nov 29th

1.In order to find my WLE and get hired, I had to write a cover letter and make a resume that gave a list of qualities that I had and what I was good at doing. I also had to make a script that I could refer to when calling business to be a possible intern.
2.The most effective way of looking for a job and getting hired is by sounding professional and being organized. It is also important to start looking as soon as you know what field you want to intern in. It is also important to be prepared at all times so that when you go in for an interview the business knows you are ready.
3.As a result of my WLE, I think being a professional or a responsible adult in the work world means to come in to work on time, communicate any issues that I have, always listen to what your colleagues have to say and dress appropriate for the environment that you are in.

_Blog #9: Life at my WLE: Tuesday Dec 6th

1.Today at my internship I did a lot of little tasks because my project is basically done. I labeled a few books and put them up on the shelf, I found a few books on the internet for students going to Bangladesh, and I also completed some school work.
2.I do not think I have improved as an intern because I never did anything bad. I feel I have continued to be a good intern by coming in on time and finishing all the tasks given to me.
3.I enjoy going to my workplace. i enjoy going because the people there are nice and care for one another. there is a friendly environment and it is very welcoming. It is also a great place to work because there you know you are making a difference in someones life.

- I really enjoyed my WLE. It taught me something new and the people there were really friendly. I'm glad i spent my senior year there!!!
- It will affect my future decisions becasue I know now what it takes to work with people in an office. I also know that I like working in an establishment that helps people out.
